Marta Lista, DVM

Dr. Lista earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 2000 and her B.S. from the University of Miami in1996. Dr. Lista began working at Trail Animal Hospital in 2007 and shortly after purchased the animal hospital from her mentor, Dr. Perry Smith.

She is the 2022-2023 President of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA). Dr. Lista is a past-president of the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association (SFVMA). Dr. Lista lobbies in Tallahassee and locally in support of the veterinary profession and animal care. She is a member of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine Dean’s Circle of Excellence and served a three year term on the UFCVM Admissions Committee. Dr. Lista has a strong commitment to our community. Her community service includes work with the Junior League of Miami, Cat Network, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Humane Society, Miami Dade County Animal Services and Miami Veterinary Foundation. Dr. Lista participates in career days for local elementary schools to educate our future generations on veterinary medical careers and providing proper pet care. She has spoken at the University of Miami and Florida International University regarding veterinary medicine admissions and careers and is a mentor for local college students attempting to gain admissions to veterinary school.

During her career Dr. Lista has been the recipient of numerous outstanding veterinary awards. In 2005 and 2006 she was recognized by her colleagues as South Florida Veterinarian of the Year. In 2009 and 2016, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association awarded Dr. Lista the Gold Star Award. This is awarded for outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine in the State of Florida. Dr. Lista competes in 1/2 marathon and 5k races. Dr Lista has a boat captain's license and enjoys spending time on the beautiful Biscayne Bay. She was born and raised in our community attending St. Kevin Elementary, Our Lady of Lourdes Academy and the University of Miami. Dr. Lista lives with her husband, Charles, stepdaughter Isabelle, son Charlie and a rescued retriever named Bo.
