Dr. Lista earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 2000 and her B.S. from the University of Miami in1996. Dr. Lista began working at Trail Animal Hospital in 2007 and shortly after purchased the animal hospital from her mentor, Dr. Perry Smith.
She currently sits on the board of directors of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) and the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association (SFVMA). She is a past president of the SFVMA. Dr. Lista lobbies in Tallahassee and locally in support of the veterinary profession and animal care. She currently heads the legislative task force of the SFVMA and is the District 6 Representative for the FVMA representing Broward, Miami, Collier and Monroe County veterinarians. Dr. Lista supports the efforts of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a member of the UFCVM Dean’s Circle of Excellence and served a three year term on the UFCVM Admissions Committee. Dr. Lista has a strong commitment to our community. Her community service includes work with the Junior League of Miami, Cat Network, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Humane Society, Miami Dade County Animal Services and Miami Veterinary Foundation. She volunteers her time to help reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter surgeries and community education. With the help of her wonderful staff, Trail Animal Hospital performs over 100 sterilization procedures for local groups every year. Dr. Lista participates in career days for local elementary schools to educate our future generations on providing proper pet care and reducing overpopulaiton. She has lectured at the University of Miami and Florida International University regarding veterinary medicine admissions and careers and is a mentor for local college students attempting to gain admissions to veterinary school.
Dr. Guevara-Nieveen stepped into the field of veterinary medicine at the age of 16 when she underwent a medical externship program in veterinary medicine in high school. She went on to graduate from theUniversity of Miami with a bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in mathematics. While at UM, she helped start the first pre-vet society alongside other students. While here, she was also part of the Alpha Epsilon Delta (Honors Medical Society) and the Marine Mammal Stranding Team. She later went on to pursue her degree in veterinary medicine at University of Florida and proudly graduated as a veterinarian in 2008. Since her graduation, Dr. Guevara has had experience with general practice, emergency and specialty hospitals, and corporate settings. She enjoys all aspects of medicine with a predilection for endocrinology, soft tissue surgery, and client education. Her family consists of a wonderful husband, a curious and sweet 4-year old daughter, a brand new baby girl, and an ever-supportive mother. She recently had her 16 year-old Labrador Natasha cross the rainbow bridge.
Erika has been with TAH since 2012. She is currently our Head Technician responsible for making sure the patients are comfortable, well cared for and their parents are well informed. Erika lives with 5 dogs and 1 cat. She thinks that the best part of working with pets is seeing them get better and of course the puppy kisses! Her hobbies include crafting and baking and traveling. She is an adventurer and master baker!
Sara has been with us since 2015. She is the lead client services representatives ensuring that you the client are well informed and taken care of. Sara is the front office manager and makes sure that we run smoothly. Sara knows that dachshunds are amazing having owned 4. She also lives with 5 cats, her 2 rescue mixed breed adorable large dogs , and even a tortoise!
Maria joined the team at Trail Animal Hospital in August of 1983 while still in high school. She started her career as as a kennel assistant and later as Practice Manager. She graduated from St.Petersburg College in the Veterinary Technician Program and received an A.S. in veterinary technology. She is now a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT) as well as Certified Veterinary Manager. Maria has 2 wonderful sons currently at the University of Florida and Floirda State University. In keeping up with her passion for animals, Maria moved to Liveoak Florida with her husband Dave and menagerie of animals; horses, a pet cow, pet goat, dogs and cats. Since we cant live without Maria, we frequently call her for her advice, guidance and good humor!
Sofia started with us in 2018. She is the voice that you hear on the phone. She grew up surrounded by pets and always wanted to help them. She has a very social Australian Shepherd that keeps her running around the house and an adopted Eclectus. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Elizabeth first came to us a volunteer from FIU and was quickly offered a position. After her commitment to her studies and faithfully serving our patients she has recently gained admission to veterinary school starting in 2020. We are sad to see her go but believe she is going to do amazing as she further pursues her passion in veterinary medicine.
Ashley has been an essential part of our team for the last 2 years. She is finishing her studies at FIU and will be applying for veterinary school. She thinks that working with animals in order to improve their quality of life and overall health is an extremely rewarding experience. She lives with her family, 2 dogs and pet pig.
Carolyn is our newest team member. She started this year and quickly became an integral part of our care team. She is a tireless worker. Energetic and passionate. We are very fortunate to have her as part of our team. She is currently applying for veterinary school. She lives with her family and her tall twin sister.
