Maria joined the team at Trail Animal Hospital in August of 1983 while still in high school. She started her career as as a kennel assistant and is now the Practice Manager. She graduated from St.Petersburg College in the Veterinary Technician Program and received an A.S. in veterinary technology. She is now a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT). Maria moved north early in her career and returned to Miami in 1989 where she resumed her career here at Trail. Maria has 2 wonderful boys that are 18 and 17 years old. Both are great students and have won several awards at school. They have inherited their mothers love for animals. Each one has a horse that he is responsible for and they help raise and nurture back to health any pet that their mom brings home. Maria and her boys live with several cats, a bunch of dogs, birds. Where do you go to school? I am currently enrolled in St. Petersburg College’s distance learning program in order to become a certified technician. I graduated from John A Ferguson High School where I was a part of the first graduating class. What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, crafting, playing board games, photography and reading. What do you like best about your work at Trail Animal Hospital? What I like best about working at Trail Animal Hospital is that no two days are the same and every day is an opportunity to learn something new. I feel that we are all a big family! What are you known for personally? What do you have a knack for? I am personally known for my kindness and willingness to help others particularly the elderly. I am also personally known for making cake pops. Why do you enjoy working with animals? The best part of working with animals is seeing them get better and know that I had a part in that. Also, all the awesome puppy kisses.
