    C.Perry Smith, DVM 1939-2018 Legacy of Trail Animal Hospital

    Dr. Perry Smith’s legacy of excellent medical care, community and professional involvement lives on at Trail Animal Hospital.

    Dr. Smith served as Veterinarian and Captain in the U.S. Army. He bought Trail Animal Hospital in 1968 from Dr. Stoddard who used the animal hospital as his office and residence.  After faithfully serving the pets and clients of our community for 42 years, Dr. Smith retired in 2008. He enjoyed his work caring for animals and meeting multiple generations of families.  Upon his retirement, he was honored with the FVMA's Lifetime Achievement Award, the single most prestigious award that can be given to any veterinarian in the state of Florida.  During his retirement, he moved to Immokalee, Florida where he owned and managed a 2,500-acre working cattle ranch fulfilling his dreams to return to ranching and farming.

    Marta Lista, DVM

    Dr. Lista earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 2000 and her B.S. from the University of Miami in1996. Dr. Lista began working at Trail Animal Hospital in 2007 and shortly after purchased the animal hospital from her mentor, Dr. Perry Smith.

    She is the 2022-2023 President of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA). Dr. Lista is a past-president of the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association (SFVMA). Dr. Lista lobbies in Tallahassee and locally in support of the veterinary profession and animal care. She is a member of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine Dean’s Circle of Excellence and served a three year term on the UFCVM Admissions Committee. Dr. Lista has a strong commitment to our community. Her community service includes work with the Junior League of Miami, Cat Network, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Humane Society, Miami Dade County Animal Services and Miami Veterinary Foundation. Dr. Lista participates in career days for local elementary schools to educate our future generations on veterinary medical careers and providing proper pet care. She has spoken at the University of Miami and Florida International University regarding veterinary medicine admissions and careers and is a mentor for local college students attempting to gain admissions to veterinary school.

    Angela Guevara Nieveen, DVM

    Dr. Guevara-Nieveen stepped into the field of veterinary medicine at the age of 16 when she underwent a medical externship program in veterinary medicine in high school. She went on to graduate from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in mathematics. While at UM, she helped start the first pre-vet society alongside other students. While here, she was also part of the Alpha Epsilon Delta (Honors Medical Society) and the Marine Mammal Stranding Team. She later went on to pursue her degree in veterinary medicine at University of Florida and proudly graduated as a veterinarian in 2008. Since her graduation, Dr. Guevara has had experience with general practice, emergency and specialty hospitals, and corporate settings. She enjoys all aspects of medicine with a predilection for endocrinology, soft tissue surgery, and client education. Her family consists of a wonderful husband, 2 beautiful girls, and an ever-supportive mother and her super sweet puppy Abby!

    Victoria Aldama,DVM

    Dr. Victoria Aldama earned her veterinary degree from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021 and received her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Her professional interests include small animal surgery, mixed animal general practice, and dentistry. Victoria grew up in Miami, FL, and after living in Knoxville, Tennessee for 4 years, she has finally returned to the sunshine state to live close to her family. She is currently living with her husband Gio, her son Dominic and rescue pups Piglet and Pongo. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing the piano, listening to Pitbull Radio, and spending time outdoors.

    Hospital Administrator

    Erika has been a part of our team since 2012. She is currently one of our Hospital Administrators responsible for making sure the patients are comfortable and our days run smoothly. She lives with her husband Lewis, stepson Lucas, two cats Cricut and Waffles and a dog named Rocky.  When she is not in the office you can find her making various crafts, traveling, baking, or thrift shopping. Erika’s favorite part of working with us is seeing pets go home happy and healthy at the end of each day.

    Client Care Representative

    Citlali joinied us in 2022. She is one of the voices you hear when you call our office. She lives with her family, her cat Simba, her bearded dragon Dino, a tortoise and her turtle Lucy. On her free time, she enjoys catching up on her favorite shows and spending time with her friends. Citlali’s favorite thing about working here is that everyday she learns something new.

    Veterinary Technician

    Daniela joined us in 2021. She is responsible for treating your pets and helping you with anything you need. Daniela lives with her family and her big baby Bruno. When she is not at the clinic she enjoys going to the beach, painting, and watching movies. Daniela’s favorite part of working here is getting to interact with all the big dogs!

  • Patrick Moyses
    Veterinary Technician

    Patrick has been part of our team since 2021. He is responsible for helping the doctors examine and treat your babies. Patrick lives with his girlfriend Mary and his adorable cat Vicky. When he is not here, he enjoys playing guitar and cooking. Patrick’s favorite part of working here is getting to work with lots of Corgis!

  • Sophia Arintok
    Veterinary Technician

    Sophia joined our team in 2021. She is one of our current surgical technicians. She is responsible for taking care of your pets any time they are in the hospital. Sophia lives with her family (including her twin sister) and her 3 cats, Cheeto Puff, Ember, and Squirt. On her spare time, she enjoys reading and creating art. Her favorite part of working with us is all the different cats she gets to meet.

    Veterinary Technician

    Kiara joined the team in 2022. She is one of our current surgical technicians. Kiara lives with her family and two dogs Kim and Lola. Kiara loves to travel and hang out with her dogs. She loves learning something new every time she comes to work.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Gabriela started working with us in 2021. She is responsible for keeping our in-house patient’s cozy. She lives with her family her cats Sasha, Gus, Pirata, Stacio. and her Macaw Paco. On her free time Gabriela enjoys various arts and crafts, reading and exercising. Her favorite thing about working with us is getting to take the boarders for their daily walks.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Emely began working with us in 2022. She is responsible for making sure our boarding guests feel right at home. She lives at home with her family and her 2 dogs and one cat: Zeus, Ivy, and September. On her free time, you can find her practicing yoga and meditation. Her favorite thing about working with us is getting to interact with so many different breeds of animals.

    Stephany joined our team in 2022. She is one of our kennel assistants helping care and clean after our patients. She lives with her family, her dogs Roxy and Henry, and cats Steak and Tiger. Stephany loves to sing in her free time.

    Maria joined us in 2023. Maria loves to play video games, go thrifting, and spending time outdoors. She loves working with the caring staff and seeing the sweetest animals.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Camila joined our team in 2023. She lives with her parents and is a proud mom two outdoor orange cats named Pumpkin and Sir Mimosa. She likes reading, drawing, and playing music. Camila's favorite part of working at Trail Animal Hospital is that she gets to learn more about treating patients.
