Dr.
C.Perry Smith, DVM 1939-2018 Legacy of Trail Animal Hospital

Dr. Perry Smith’s legacy of excellent medical care, community and professional involvement lives on at Trail Animal Hospital.

Dr. Smith served as Veterinarian and Captain in the U.S. Army. He bought Trail Animal Hospital in 1968 from Dr. Stoddard who used the animal hospital as his office and residence.  After faithfully serving the pets and clients of our community for 42 years, Dr. Smith retired in 2008. He enjoyed his work caring for animals and meeting multiple generations of families.  Upon his retirement, he was honored with the FVMA's Lifetime Achievement Award, the single most prestigious award that can be given to any veterinarian in the state of Florida.  During his retirement, he moved to Immokalee, Florida where he owned and managed a 2,500-acre working cattle ranch fulfilling his dreams to return to ranching and farming.

On a personal note, Dr. Smith trusted me to carry on his legacy of hard work, excellent veterinary care, community and professional involvement. He was a role model and mentor for me and I hope to continue his legacy, do good and make him proud for the opportunities he has given me. Dr. Marta Lista
