About Us

Maria joined the practice in August of 1983 while still in high school. She started her career as a  kennel assistant and moved up in the ranks, She is now the Practice Manager. She attended St.Petersburg College in the Veterinary Technician Program from 1987-1989. Maria returned  to Miami in 1989 and  resumed her career here at Trail.

In 1993 Maria bought a farm in Horse Country where she still lives today. She has a horse boarding and training facility where the University of Miami Equestrian Team trains. At her farm she has been able to raise some of the abandoned or abused animals that have come to Trail. Right now there is a steer from Dr. Smith's ranch that the mother abandoned. Along with her father and children Maria fed him every 2 hours for 3 weeks until he became able to hold larger amounts of food at one time. Now he is doing great and we hope to have him around for many years.

Maria has 2 wonderful boys that are 11 and 12 years old. Both are great students have won several awards at school. They have inherited their mothers love for animals. Each one has a horse that he is responsible for and they help raise and nurture back to health any pet that their mom brings home. Maria and her boys live with several cats, a bunch of dogs, birds, and a pot belly pig named Miss Piggy.
